EEMA Appoints Hans Graux Attorney-at-Law Specialising in Electronic Identity and Trust Services to its Board of Management

EEMA the independent European Think Tank focused on identity, privacy and trust, today announced the appointment of Hans Graux – a partner at Timelex and an attorney-at-law specialising in electronic identity and trust services – to the EEMA Board of Management.

Based in Brussels, Timelex is a leading niche law firm specialising in the legal aspects of information technology, privacy and data protection, intellectual property, media and electronic communications. Since joining Timelex in 2007, Hans has supported the creation of the current legislation on electronic identification and trust services (including electronic signatures, electronic stamps and time stamps). He advises both governments and private companies on the correct application of the law, and on the necessary contractual framework.

Commenting on his position on the EEMA Board of Management, Hans Graux states: “EEMA has been the point of reference on electronic identification, digital signatures and cybersecurity in the EU for as long as I can remember. No organisation has done as much to bring authoritative voices on these topics together, and to make sure they are heard. It is an honour and a privilege to be able to support their future work.”

During his career, Hans has supported multiple projects relating to the issuance and management of smart cards, PKI infrastructure and mobile identification. He has more than 15 years’ experience working on pioneering research projects, including studies for the European Commission and various European agencies. Most recently he has worked alongside EEMA on Horizon 2020 projects including LIGHTest and FutureTrust. He is currently advising consortium partners (including EEMA) in the delivery of the LOCARD and Digital Europe for All (DE4A) initiatives.

Chair of EEMA, Jon Shamah, states: “Timelex and EEMA have a longstanding relationship. The  expert counsel and insight Hans is able to bring to Horizon 2020 projects is vital to their long.” Shamah adds: “Hans is generous with his time and expertise and many EEMA members have benefited greatly from his advice. I am proud that Hans has accept our invitation to join the Board of Management to help shape the future of EEMA.”
