Bart Preneel joins EEMA Board

 EEMA has announced that Bart Preneel, the world renowned cryptography expert, has agreed to join the EEMA Board of Management.

Bart Preneel is a Professor at KU Leuven and heads the COSIC research group, which is a member of the imec Security Department. He has been visiting Professor at five universities in Europe and has authored more than 400 scientific publications, as well as the inventor of five patents. His main research interests are cryptography, information security and privacy.

Professor Preneel has coordinated the Network of Excellence ECRYPT, served as panel member and chair for the European Research Council and has been president of the IACR (International Association for Cryptologic Research). He is a member of the Permanent Stakeholders group of ENISA (European Network and Information Security Agency) and of the Academia Europaea. As a speaker he is in high demand and has presented at more than 100 conferences in 40 countries, including EEMA’s annual ISSE conference where he presents ‘The Cryptographic Year in Review’. In 2014 he received the RSA Award for Excellence in the Field of Mathematics.
